Steam Version

Installing mods through Steam is straightforward. First, open Steam and navigate to the Hearts of Iron 4 Workshop page. Here you'll find thousands of mods to choose from. Once you've found a mod you like, just click the "Subscribe" button and Steam will handle everything automatically. The next time you launch the game, you'll see your new mod in the launcher ready to be activated.

Manual Installation

For manual installation, you'll first need to download your mod file, which usually comes as a ZIP. Before installing it, make sure you can find the correct folder on your computer. Open File Explorer and navigate to your Documents folder, then look for "Paradox Interactive," followed by "Hearts of Iron IV," and finally a folder called "mod." If you don't see the mod folder, go ahead and create it.

Now comes the simple part. Extract everything from your downloaded ZIP file into this mod folder. You should end up with two important items - a folder containing the mod's files and a separate .mod file. Both of these need to be in your mod folder for the game to recognize them.

Playing with Mods
